About Real Rock and Blues
Real Rock and blues was a radio show that aired every Wednesday at 10.. pm GMT on Ribble Valley Radio . RVR was a community radio station that was set up in the beautiful Ribble Valley area of Lancashire, UK. It was run and presented by members of the local community. Funding comes from grants and various initiatives by the members.
The aim of the station was to service the local community through providing a voice for all groups. It also provides information on local services, news and sports. During the first 28 day test broadcast we interviewed some 300 local groups.
Phil Stutt
I am the presenter of Real Rock and Blues and am passionate about music. I presented shows on RVR since its inception. Through MySpace (Look at my site here) I have contacted and been contacted by many new and interesting musicians and bands that I played on the show. My aim is to present an interesting and sometimes challenging show. Check out the past playlists.
The Music
- ROCK - New and local bands are championed along with some staples like Wreckless Eric, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, Roger Chapman, Zappa, and Beefheart.
- BLUES - I like all types of blues and play a diverse range. Recently I have played Frank Frost, Wolfman Washington, Otis Grand, Robert Johnson, R L Burnside, John Lee Hooker, and lots more!! (Even some Zydeco!)
